What to Expect from an Individual Session
An individual Feldenkrais session
is tailored to your personal needs.
In Functional Integration® Lessons, Jennifer guides your movement while you lie or sit in a comfortable position on a Feldenkrais table, fully clothed. These sessions, generally described as gentle, relaxing, and revitalizing, teach you through a hands-on approach. Lessons address fundamental components of movement such as bending, flexing, extending, rotating, and breathing. They improve functions such as walking, running, sitting, rolling, and jumping, and many more, and have demonstrated good results regardless of age or level of ability.
Jennifer’s calm presence provides a safe and healing environment in which you experience your Feldenkrais session. Through gentle touch and verbal instructions, you will be moved gently or asked to move within your range of comfort to access your nervous system and provide your brain with new information. This information retrains your brain and may replace old and less healthful muscle memory.
As you move from habitual to nonhabitual movements, you will experience brain plasticity in action. You may feel some immediate changes and other changes that continue to occur after the session. The healing effects of Feldenkrais are far-reaching as the improvements are deeply integrated into your body and mind.
